Cecilia Bartolomé is a Spanish filmmaker and screenwriter, recognized as a pioneer of feminist and socially conscious cinema in Spain. Throughout her career, she has been noted for her commitment to women's rights, political critique, and her sharp focus on Spanish society, particularly during the democratic transition. In 1969, she directed her first short film, Margarita y el lobo. After completing her studies, Bartolomé directed several documentaries and projects such as Después de... (1981). She also ventured into fiction filmmaking with titles like Lejos de África (1996).
