Pete Karras is a photographer-father of two sons (Vincent Van Patten and Leif Garrett), who takes to the road after the death of Pete's wife. That story involves a romance between Pete and Amy Parsons, who, alas, is doomed, but it's the relationship between Pete and his boys that's the heartbeat of the series.

The series centers on Pete Karras, played by Alex Rocco, a recently widowed photojournalist travelling around the United States with two sons, John and Endy, in a recreational vehicle.
