On the last night of his life, Alexey Maximovich Gorky remembers those he loved and those who loved him. He remembers well how, at the age of 19, he shot himself because of unrequited love. He aimed for the heart, but missed, and the bullet lodged in the lung. Since then, he started having problems with his lungs and with women.
