Günther and Erwin are best friends and love enemies at the same time: the two shrewd older men have been at loggerheads for 30 years now - over a woman that one of them once stole from the other, of course. The two enjoy teasing and teasing each other. When the attractive pharmacist Anita moves into town one day and turns their heads, the old rivalry threatens to start all over again. Meanwhile, Günther's daughter Paula and her husband, Erwin's son Thomas, have more serious problems: there is a huge crisis in their marriage.
